I was looking at the history of Meigs and thought it was rather outrageous the way it was closed down. But i was wondering what was the biggest ever aircraft to land there and also what was the level of operations from the airport over the years i.e. scheduled services etc.
Thanks for any info you can give

I hadn’t heard that a 727 landed at Meigs before. Is there any documentation regarding the event?

727 wasnt it. for a museum.???
It was indeed. I’ve been inside her twice, where you can only look into the cockpit, but you can sit in the seats of the old cabin, where there’s IFE :p

A United 727-100 was the biggest aircraft to land there, and its now hanging off the celing in the superb Museum of Science and Industry in South Chicago.
There was no scheduled services, as it was a GA airfield

Hope that helps, sadly i’ve visited it as an operational field, and i went to it this summer, to see its sad demise 🙁
