Parts I enjoyed:
The Grunt marshalls them into a mine field.
Nate cowering behind his armor. (I had a boss called Nate with the same tendencies)
Landing in dense bush to check if any survivors of a fixed wing that went down.
The snake.
The fart. (I had a copilot who did a similar thing at East Midlands just as a pretty lass walked into the plane. We advised him to change his opening line!)
Cheers

This is one of the books I couldn’t put down as well.
This was years ago. There is a line where the instructor says” well we will just have to find smaller and smaller fields” in answer to Robert’s question about perfecting his landings. (actually I may remember that slightly wrong, perhaps someone will correct it.) Anyway it made me laugh out loud.

Coincidentally my new boss was telling me at dinner last night that he was a gunner on Hueys in ‘Nam.

That is one of the few books I have read from cover to cover. Damn good. I will watch the film as well. 🙂
