RE: Chickens
So lets see…
“Biologically speaking the egg is fertilized by the sperm creating a featus. The egg then forms around the Chicken so, to be correct the Chicken came before the egg.”
Right, that clarifies the position no end…so it all starts with some Washing Powder (biological…geddit ?) and an egg , who by the way is a Southern Redneck (has to be with a name like Featus doesnt it ?) and then you build another shell around it…blimey…whadja call it when it hatches…Houdini ?
?
Cheers

And a Happy new one to all

RE: Chickens
I really should stop thinking about stuff like this after c**lsb*rg!!! LOL!
It seems the argument of whether the egg forms around the chicken after conception relies on the argument of when life begins… but that’s a whole new topic!!!!

RE: Chickens
Sure, if you are in the habit of counting your chickens before they hatch.

RE: Chickens
You wouldn’t have a random lizard giving birth to a chicken! You’d have lizards becoming progressively chicken like! So, when you get a lizard which is 99% chicken… it lays an egg… and then you get a full chicken! This takes place over thousands of years… so when you go back to the beginning, it’s not the egg that comes first, it’s the chicken… Oh, hang on… if we’re talking about the history of simply the chicken… then it’s the egg first… I’m confusing myself here, and probably you lot too! I’m off… MMMMM C**rlsb*rg!!

RE: Chickens
Nonono. Say, for example, a turkey goes out, gets drunk, and gets laid by a pheasant. A short while later, Miss turkey feels a bit bloated, and POW! an egg falls out of her pants. “Hmm” says she “thats cool, think i’ll sit on that for a while” which she duly does. Shortly afterwards, she hears this chipping noise, and looks down. lo and behold, out pops a head.
“what the hell is this? Why are you in my egg?”
“Umm, I was hiding”
“You chicken”.
So egg first, then chicken.
(got some gin for christmas. hehe)

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-12-02 AT 07:47Â PM (GMT)]I’m on my third
So this Lizard lays an egg and out pops a chicken (Or something very similar )…You can just imagine the third degree Mrs Lizard got from hubby when junior comes out covered in feathers ?!?!?!?!.
And all because old Archeopterix couldn’t keep his pecker in his pants.
Thats probably why the dinosauars died out…nothing to do with a big meteor at all, they where all busy knocking each other up and got knocked off by irate partners !.
Cheers

RE: Chickens
If the chicken evolved from the random lizard, and lizards lay eggs… did the lizard come first or the egg?????
It has to be the animal before the egg! OK, you get everything evolving from simple organisms, then something came along and laid an egg… this is probably due to predators… or to be able to keep the offspring warm until they become able to do it themselves… or so the parent can go for food… and leave the offspring in a protective shell.
I can not see any simple organism evolving into an egg which then opens to give a new species!
I need a c**lsb*rg!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-12-02 AT 07:23Â AM (GMT)]Thanks guys
Lizards ….?….cant see lizard farms taking off (Lizard Run ! teehee). Actually, I suppose with four legs instead of two the thrust / weight ratio would be superior and if they where found to be overweight at take off, they could all drop their tails…but thats another tale !
Mind you, if the Pilgrims fathers had shot a cat instead of a Turkey, guess what we’d be eating for Christmas dinner !?!?.
All the best for the New Year…and no C*rslb*rg yet (okay, I s’pose 09.23 in the morning is bit too early to start, but hey, I dont have to go to work till tpmmorrow !)
Cheers
