China Air Museum oddity

Saw this at the China Air Museum a couple of days back. I would welcome a positive ID.

Republic F-84’s had a mid mounted wing with straight wings ie no bend. This object has a low mounted wing with a bend in it. Therefore this is not a real F-84.
Like others have said I believe it was also a lash up for a display about the Korean war.

the link to the thunderjhet photo depicts one in thailand which is fairly close 🙂 looking through airliners.net i really was surprised to see how many fairly rare 40’s-50’s aircraft are actually in china and its surrounding countries!

nashio 966 noting its resemblance to a Thunderjet makes sense indeed if this lash-up was for a film, presumably about the Korean War. I am not aware of any of the F84 family currently extant in a Chinese collection.

It is a ploy, a dupe, a fake, but a cleverly positioned one. You see, while you are taking photo’s of that , you completely miss the Chinese Short Stirling that is parked over the back;)

Thanks Ant, that all sounds highly probable. I certainly noted the likelyhood of the the CJ-6 bit for the main wing structure and the nose section looks decidedly unrealistic . Certainly the “gun troughs” would match little more than a couple of air rifles!
I just wonder if it was ever used.

This ‘thing’ has been mentioned on this forum before. Apparently it’s a Nanchang CJ6 modified to look like an F84, perhaps for a film. Can’t find the old thread just at the moment…

…Found it!
