Recent visit to Russian Test flight center Zhukovsky by People’s Liberation Army defense minister has stired up a rumor that PLAAF or the PLAN is to aquire the backfire. Chinese Feng Huang channel has openly suggested that Tu-22M3 and the Mig-31 may be on the new weapons purchasing list. Many Chinese military forums has also discussed the possibility of purchasing the back fire.
Anyone here have anything to say on this issue? and any fellow Chinese here can tell me how this rumor started?
