Found in Wu Han …
It’s obviously not Kilo or Song (039), but maybe named 039A with AIP installed…
I know somebody will think it as PSed …

They are pumping them out like pancakes, so why the need for imports???
.

Claimed as a latest Yuan launch…

Another Song in the making? Why the massive builtup???

Song verses Song upgrades. Can’t tell difference. Changes too minor.

Make no mistake about it, we are witnessing PRC and Taiwan in a heated arms race! The winner and loser will be determined within the next 10 years or so when one side’s national resources are finally exhausted ….
Sorry, but cross straight issues should IMO be avoided here since it’s domestically Chinese. Besides, I doubt there’ll be any big shoot outs in Asia except for minor squirmishes ala Falkland’s max. The naval built up IMO are a counterweight measure to large flotillas sitting off of Chinese shores and no more than that.

😉 Frank, you really ought to learn the art of lip-reading. It’s fun! 😉
Too bad. English is not my first language. In fact, it’s not even my second.

They seem to be pounding out subs as fast as McDonald’s rolling out Big Macs. This should mean another plus one on the Song sub list soon.

I do, since someone mentioned this as being Dutch, I took my books and indeed, these yards are the building yards in Schiedam. The ones in Flushing (where the Dutch subs of this class were built) are different in the way that only one submarine was built at a time. And they were put on slipways there, built, not in a dry dock, but on land.

Oh the IRONY!!!! I concede my mistake.
Whoever posted this on the Chinese forums had a wicked sense of humour to pass it off as PLA-N subs. I salute you!
Not to be discouraged, koxinga.
It’s not the end of the world. Besides, it still can be West German.
Who knows for certain what it is!!!

You will have a hard time explaining those photos as Mings, given the cylindrical shape of the hulls.
I mean, why couldn’t these be “West German Mings” Crob??? I’m open to the possibility.
By: crobato - 9th September 2004 at 02:53
the problem and why i said it is a ming is because i recall having seen this photo before… years ago. The old CDF thread might have cleared this up but unfortunately the photos from afew years back was lost during the server crash.

I’ll second that bottom pic…
Curious: How stealthy???
:dev2:
i think it’ll be stealthy enough that the RCS would be much better if all those people weren’t on the deck reflecting radar.

The Yuan Class, how good is this subamrine when compare to Collins class?
Latest Magazine Ad on Yuan Class:
Don’t know what it means, but, the claim is that it (Yuan) has
“exceptional depth capabilities”, and, it’s proven exceptionally quiet. But then again, that’s
characteristic or consistant of tones of the Chinese language.
Example: A recent rumor says that some PLAN General had claimed that
there are currently a total of at least 14 nuclear powered subs in the PLAN’s inventory but,
that’s for each of us to digest and believe. Far fetches??? Who knows!!!!
In Chinese; take with salt but I wouldn’t write it off as BS either.

I’d keep an open mind on these things – even if sceptical.
