China's Real Motive: J-20

A lot of us are in a tizzy over the knowledge of China’s J-20 program. Let me pose this theory.

Why would any nation so openly expose the existence of a Gen5 fighter right around the time the US Government is mulling the fate of the F-22 which is slated to be cancelled shortly?

The J-20 is clearly intended to oppose and compete with the Raptor. Doesn’t it seem like it would be in your national interest to withold knowledge of a counter-weapon once the threat of any additional F-22s could be built?

Because the production line is not closed and we now have a Republican majority in the House isn’t this new threat (the J-20) a reason for debate to keep producing fighters now re-opened? Does anyone not think Lockheed isn’t lobbying congressmen as we speak about this “new” threat?

If I am making a product, don’t I want my competition to settle on a design and commit to producing it before I announce my “killer app”??

So I think a few things:

1. China has a military industrial complex just like the West that also needs a threat to justify its existence.

2. More F-22s built also gets more money and accelerates the J-20 program

3. China owns stock in many US corporations including Boeing and Lockheed. The J-20s presence opens the debate for more production to “defend” against it and PAK-FA

I am not a conspiracy theorist. But with the tight controls on media in China I see no reason why they would tip their hat on a threat especially when there is a window in the US to respond.
