Hello all,
I noticed there are a number of people on these forums who can read Chinese and participate in forums on the subject.
I am interested to know if anyone has heard about Chinese modification of AA-12 “Adder” missiles imported from Russia.
Some years ago, I read that China had developed their own improved version of this missile. The main described modification was to add a ballistic “loft” trajectory for longer maximum range.
This is curious, since the original AA-12 (and even the AA-10) are understood to use a ballistic loft trajectory in the “default” version. In fact I even heard of one individual who witnessed a televised test launch in Russia.
It may be that the export RVV-AE is a different weapon than the Russian R-77 and one uses loft and the other doesn’t. But, I have seen data for export and non-export versions of the AA-10, which indicate that they both have the same range.
Can anyone provide more insight or information about Chinese modifications to the AA-12 (RVV-AE or R-77), or about ballistic “loft” flight profiles in general?
Thanks in advance,
-SK
