After looking at the photos of Chipmunks from JCW a question came to mind.
Does anyone know the reasoning behind the different canopies used on the UK built machines and those built in Canada, which are bubble type?
I was lucky enough as a brand new private pilot to get the chance to fly one in the late 60’s here in Canada. Fun airplane !
Thanks

I assume it was a requirement from the RCAF when they ordered their Chipmunks.
The first 22 Chipmunks built in Canada had the same style cockpit canopies as the UK built aircraft. From c/n 23 on they were built with bubble canopies.
