I was in The Works discount bookshop in Wrexham today and found Bill Gunston’s collection of WW2 aircraft and engine cutaways drastically reduced down to £5.99. Taken from the archives of a certain aircraft publisher not connected to this forum, but we’ll pass over that! A wonderful book all the same.
They do mail order too

Wow! I’ve got an heirloom!
As they always say on the Antiques Roadshow…we won’t be selling it, it’ll stay in the family.

Don’t think I’ll be paying $308.27 (plus postage), though!

There is another very fine 48 page booklet celebrating the art of the cutaway drawing called Beneath The Skin…published to accompany an exhibition of the same name in 1998. It covers Flight International artists from the Avro 641 in 1934 to the F-22 in 1997..aircraft, engines, space vehicles. Beautiful works of art, worth tracking down if you’re a fan of such things.

Was there ever a second volume in the series?

Another vote for Bill Gunston’s cutaway book..an absolute steal at the Works price. Beautiful artwork and very informative text. And I got the Boy’s Book of Airfix to complete the nostalgia-fest! Get ’em while you can.

Picked up a copy in a used book store here several years ago… in VG/F condition. I paid right about what you did.
