All cities in the world have nice views. I have always loved this view from Birkenhead to the Liverpool harbour buildings. Really impresive. Suggest me pintoresque view. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago.

Sitting on the apron at EWR and seeing Manhattan at night is great too – esp when you could see the twin towers and the Empire State Building in the same view.

yeah, the CN tower is quite unmistakeable, as the World’s tallest free standing building. (and the glass floor is, erm, interesting…).
Just to teh left of the tower, you can just about see the roof of the Skydome, where the Toronto BlueJays baseball team plays (it’s also the home of the Toronto Canadian Football team).
it is indeed a nice place.

While I must agree that the Liverpool skyline is one of the most instantly recognizable and stunning in the world, I would also give Toronto, Ontario, Canada a honourable mention. Toronto’s waterfront, though ultra modern, is also instantly recognizable.

I don’t find Paris romantic. My fiancee and I are going to Como and possibly Venice in December. Apart from the weather that seems a lot more romantic to me!

If I were in love you can bet I wouldnt be visiting GAY Paris
(I’m sorry that was very flippant)

Not by any stretch of the imagination can I find Paris romantic, apart from maybe the stretch of the Seine by Notre Dame where the artists hang out…………nah! maybe not!

My girlfriend had a flat in the building just behind and to the right of the Liver Buildings for six months. Nice views from there too. My cousin heads out to Dubai for a year in January, it looks pretty impressive I have to say. Perth looks great as well, much better than the Perth just up the road from me.

andrewm,
Of course Slough is beautiful – it has Heathrow Airport sat next door to it! I was going to go shopping to Slough tomorrow but now I’m going to Oxford. That’s a nice place.

The one close to Birminghan?. Surely it has nice places. The one on the left is the Unilever building (used by German bombers are reference to bomb Liverpool, that´s why they weren´t destroyed); the one in the middle is the Cunard one, and the one on the right….I am not sure. On the right side, I don´t know if appears on the photo is the White Star Building, which you all know what is famous for. Talking about TITANIC….did you know, that the current Spanish Embassy at Belgrave Sq (my cousin works inside and I have stayed inside mnay times. It´s an splendid mansion) was the former residence of Lord Pirrie, the owner of the Harland & Wolf and one night on a dine with Mr Ishmay the Titanic was planned. The mansion (resident of the Spanish ambassador) keeps the original furniture and in the dinning room, I couldn´t avoid having a chilling sensation, imagening the scene. “If the walls talked”.

Liver building I think. The Isle of Man car ferry docks opposite it on a floating landing stage.

Dcfly,
Are you in love? I’ve always considered that the best way to experience the true ambience and character of gay Paris. Sadly I have not had the pleasure encountering the true romantic Paris like many people; the closest I got was CDG but still there was something missing :7

Agreed Saab,
It’s an extraordinary view, together with the Eiffel Tower, which itself is an awesome sight, and dont forget Notre Dame, it’s what Paris is about, the amazing architecture, the pavement cafes, a boat trip along the Seine is a must.
But why dont I like Paris?
Am i missing something?

Paris: a view along the Avenue de Champs-Élysées. The contrast between the old and modern is spectacular. The new contemporary, energetic and chic city lies behind the historical, matured and cultured Paris where the real life lies.
The tree-lined avenue reflects the calmness and tranquillity of a relaxed, laid back city. The French flag gracefully flying in the Champs-Élysées just finishes the picture for me and represents everything about this splendid city. Definitely one of my favourite cities in Europe.
