An early heads-up here folks, but the CNAM at Norwich Airport are holding an Open Cockpit Day on Sunday 31st October.
Its a chance to have a nose around Vulcan XM612 as well as see their brand new Jaguar.

Can anyone help with the name of a contact at City of Norwich Aviation Museum who I can telephone to ask about the Hunter cockpit? I am in Norfolk on business once a month, but won’t be there until January now and want to make contact this weekend.

Hunter T.7
Is heading to Dorset, others cockpits are staying though. Fundraising for a building for them so if you’d like to send CNAM a donation that would be great – or you could buy something from the shop there of course.

Any word yet on where the Hunter T7 cockpit has gone?
I believe the Hunter T.7 nose has headed down South somewhere, I don’t know where though.

Bex,
When the previous owner sold WH984 on it was relatively complete inside. Knowing how keen they are at CNAM I would imagine they are/will be restoring it to a high standard.
The previous owners website is still floating around if you want to have a look – it has some photos of the inside etc.
Mark, thank you very much for your help, hmm for a Hunter nut u know alot about Cranberrys!!!! Bex

Sorry, couldn’t see inside the Canberra cockpit either, could be worth e-mailing the webmaster of the CNAM website to see what it’s like

The Canberra cockpit is WH984 from memory which should make it a B.15.
Oh well back to the drawing board  Thanks for the info Dave

Rob, cracking photos from you and you had some good weather by the look of it. Would you or anyone out there know what the Cranberry Cockpit is, and what state its in inside please? Bex

The small frame of the homebuilt is a Tipsy Nipper, do you have pictures of that one?

Yep, that’s the same Hunter cockpit I described (didn’t notice that). No idea where it came from, apparently it’s the ex-Mick Jennings cockpit from Coltishall (cheers Dave T), so presumably it was at the museum until saturday, with the other coltishall collection cockpits. No idea where it went, it left when I was waiting for the taxi and later caught up with it heading towards Norwich, being towed by a silver 4×4 pickup.
A volunteer there about my age opened up the Herald for me, although we couldn’t get the rear door open so had to go through the front, the Fokker wasn’t open but i’m sure if you asked they’d be happy to open up.

Also there was a two seat Hunter cockpit in raspberry ripple colours on a trailer, which I later saw driving towards Norwich, no idea if it was being collected from the museum or just visiting, anyone know which one it was?
Rob,
Yes thats the ex-Mick Jennings cockpits from Coltishall, including the raspberry ripple Hunter T.7 XF321.
Cheers………

I visited the City of Norwich Aviation Museum yesterday and it is true what R Langham says about cheap Corgi diecast models. I bought the 74 Squadron Spitfire (1/32 scale) with sound for only £65.00. My local shop has them for sale for £149.99. I spent too much in the shop there, everything is very good value.
Is that the Hunter cockpit you can see in the background of the Lightning shot? It wasn’t there yesterday, where did it come from and where has it gone?
