Classic air force has closed

But nobody knows where the aircraft have been sold too?

thanks for clarifying that so it would appear that the aircraft will remain stored until homes can be found for them?

Just to clarify – we have been offered the chance to rent space in the hangar for approx 14 weeks to undergo the NDT testing process which requires the Shackleton to be jacked up in the ‘rigging position’ and remain stable throughout…
We are not ‘moving in’, and it all depends on finding the space by shuffling around other occupants of Hangar 7 so that on half of the hangar is clear for our use…. And for that we have to pay a fee just as anyone would 😉

So whatever happened to these aircraft being held in Trust? (never signed?) and what happened to those who paid £hundreds to have a “share” in “their” aircraft?

Dakota’s and DC6, Twin Pioneer, Canberra WK163… what will become of them?

You need to delink the DC-6 from the CAF; it has been under separate ownership for some time now. Its potential and the proposals for its future are described here: http://thedc6.com/ownership/

The hangar has been offered to The Shackleton so are the tenants moving out?

The Dakotas were on a pollution control contract until recently, the DC6 was under the control of a separate group (Cloudmaster…? Something like that), I had heard the others had offers on them, but that was when the website was still up.

I don’t think any of them are looking at a poor future. No doubt it will all become clear as they move off to different owners.

I had heard that the Meteors and the Vampire had sold. Don’t know more than that.

Which larger aircraft? Shackleton and Nimrod have a reasonably bright future which is why they weren’t involved in the sale.
