I’ve not flown with Classic Wings but have flown in both Tiger Moth and Rapide out of Kidlington. Again the magic of flying out of a WWII airfield in a machine of the period. The glory of the Rapide is that everyone has a window seat. You are in for a treat, I hope you enjoy it.

I last flew in the Rapide in ’03. The Pilot was so good that after flying around for a while i noticed he was lining up then there was a slight rumbling noise and I realised we had landed-a real greaser!

Flew the Rapide in 06, around 11am before Legends. It was really windy and a lot of fun!

I flew in the Duxford Rapide a couple of years ago. I was told the flight would be 15 minutes, but it turned out to be just six minutes, according to my digital camera. When I mentioned this they were uninterested. Good flight though, while it lasted – I guess its luck of the draw as to flight duration. I once had a flight in the Prentice at Kemble which lasted an hour, as we had to wait for a couple of displays to finish.

I had similar, we caught a headwind as we came around over the M-11, the pilot put the nose down to pick up some speed and landed after just one circuit. My son and I made the flight, muggins here left the camera in the car so we had no pictures. A passenger took one for us and offered to mail them on but I never heard from him which was a shame.

That said, it was a unique experience to say the least and I’m glad that we did it.

Yes to both – but especially the Rapide. Last flew it in 1947. Delightful. Last Tiger Moth flight – 1939!!

My first flight was in a Rapide from Duxford. I am so glad my first experience of flight was in a real aeroplane. The experience was fantastic and well worth the waiting a year as Black 6 came a croper about ten minutes before my first booked flight.

Yes, I went up in the Rapide. Great fun. And not too expensive all things considered.
As curlyboy mentioned, it was great fun, not only to fly in a historic type, but from a historic airfield.
Not many places where you can fly from a grass field with so much WWII (and WWII film) history.

While in university, I had a ride in a Tiger Moth (not in the UK though) and it was another great ride. That too would be super from Duxford.

Definately do it, if you go in the Dragon Rapide it is about £40 and the flight is about 10 minutes but it is worth every penny as the nostalgia of feeling a genuine 1930’s airliner fly and being in it is amazing not like the sterile pressurized buses of today (although they are more comfortable and quieter).

The tiger moth is about £100 but i have not flown in it so cant comment.

Either way it is worth the money.
