Cliffs of Dover – Unofficial patching by Team Fusion will make a difference ;)

Currently work is ongoing to update and patch Cliffs of Dover. Team Fusion are working to make sure that there will be many corrections that were left undone during the final patch.

Current work is aiming at correcting the FM and making it at-least historically correct. Time will tell whether it can be done, but for those interested, here’s a little video teaser showing aircraft battling at correct altitudes 😉

New footage will be released in the following weeks along with the first patch.

Cheers, MP

Yes there is a home for the guys behind Team Fusion on the ATAG servers.

You will have to register to gain access to the forums, I can’t do anything about that…but they do work really hard at keeping the Fishing hooks and bait away from the threads!

I can’t say much at the moment, but I would urge you to register there very soon 😉

That’s generally the reason for the current unofficial work 😉

🙂 Neil are there any “official” threads about the work without all the crap that used to fly around the yellow banana forums ,cheers 🙂

P.S i bought it in a sale for about £8 knowing my computer wasn’t really up to it but when they pulled the plug on it i never got round to upgrading.

It has a lot going for it, and I am sure there is a ton of willpower to fix it.

Maybe I’m easily pleased Hampden, but I find flying on multiplayer is quite enjoyable, especially with teamspeak and a mate or 4. I’ve not touched the career after trying it when it was first launched as it was truly terrible.

I’m away from my home PC for 3 weeks but if anyone fancies teaming up for an online CloD sortie or 2 send me a PM and we’ll arrange something. Normally online as O_Ghost with the Oceanic Wing group.

These flight sims have certainly come a long way since I used to play them.
When you had to load via a stack of 3.5″ discs. x 9 with Overlord .
Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe , was on 3 x 5.25″ disks:eek:

My copy of Overlord was previously owned by the late David Moore.

The problem with CLOD is that it ISNT better than a lot of the older games. I would still play Janes F15 Eagle, EAW or indeed IL2 over CLOD. CLOD just doesn’t work – for me anyway. Definitely sad about it but there you are.

I was playing it with the last official patch installed overthe weekend and found it ok (well compared to the dogs breakfast that came before).

Moggy, the trick with ground starting is to warm the engine thoroughly and watch the oil and coolant temps – the oil cooler control is important as the the oil temp will go high before the coolant is up to temp. Then prop pitch to full fine and try and find the runway or just open the taps and hope there are no bumps. A cold motor will go pop everytime!

Was on the ATAG server and managed to cross the channel and strafe an aerodrome, take flak damage and returned for a dignified belly landing (no flaps or gear).

RoF is still the nicest online sim for me though.

Yes, I too have a copy but have been waiting for bug fixes, disappointed to hear that official support has finished, but I’ve seen other games ‘improved’ massively with unofficial mods.

I would love to play a BoB based game with the same level of realism and reliability as the WW1 sim ‘Rise Of Flight’

I was “warned off it” until the bugs were fixed – by someone on here I think – so, by the sound of it, it was good advice.

It is frustrating.

I quite enjoy flying the Hurricane and Spitfire over the Thames Estuary. But I’m blowed if I can start at dispersal with the engine off and make it to take off.

Sounds exciting but I won’t hold my breath. They will pretty much need to rebuild the sim from the ground up to fix all the bugs;

– radio chatter completely broke
– engine sounds not representative of real aircraft
– gun sounds ditto
– AI not realistic
– FPS too slow except over water and with minimal aircraft
– Ground terrain not representative of real country
– Flight models porked!
– Not atmospheric
– Not historically accurate
– No campaign mode
– Interface sucks

…I could go on :dev2:

However I paid full price as a show of faith to the devs so will wait and see.
