Clipped wing pictures?

Anyone have a good picture of the wingtip of a clipped wing spitfire? I’m making a large scale Belgian MK IX model 😀

Long discussion on the Spitfire wing and it’s designations. Was good fun a while back

Ach! Fooled by the media yet again!

Depends what you mean by clipped. The High Speed Spitfire had a shortened wing that was substantially reprofiled. I think the MkIII prototype had clipped wings that may have been different to the later ‘production standard’ but would have to check. In any case, neither example is relevant to the discussion here.

Not really. MH434 came from the Dutch AF (Klu) and had a rounded rudder. My model has a pointed rudder. This is my dream spitfire. MK IV with pointed rudder and clipped wings 🙂 Does anyone know the difference between spitfire wings? I heard b/c/e wings but what does that stand for? Different shape?

Wow, that’s different! 🙂

Apparently there’s more than one style of clipped wingtip – rounded or square.

TE462 wing tip

Here is a portion of my photo of TE462, resident at East Fortune. You can see the rest of the picture at the Museum Explorer web site.
