A very interesting write up by Clive James here on the BBC website, I did like the comment about a broadsheet writer who had never heard of Sir Keith
“if she really thought ignorance was a more honest form of knowledge then she should go and work for the kind of newspaper where she could interview Katie Price’s previous chest”

And I wonder how many have bothered to read the actual truth behind the myths. How the headline grabbers overshadowed the skilled .And it was not just Sir Keith Park who was sidelined for many years.Such as Auchinleck who was replaced by Montgomery, because he dared to stand up to Churchill.
Ah, bull**** baffles brains!
Interesting to see that a significant proportion of todays yoof thought that Adolf Hitler was the coach of the German football team.

How quickly history is forgotten
A great article by someone who obviously spoke from the heart.
I only hope that that other “journalist” has enough cop-on to know she should hang her head in shame.
But then the sad reality is that she is probably in the majority not the , I wonder how many members of the general public know who Dowding, Harris, Badar, Eisenhower, Patton or Montgomery were or what they did ?

I love this comment :-
If you’re born free you’re free to think that freedom is a natural state, and free to think that your own freedom owes nothing to some gung-ho old dead guy with a rack of initials after his name.
Classic !

I’ve just read the piece from the link supplied by Dan Hamblin, it is good to see some push back from the readers who are critical of her work, its not so much not knowing who he was but the “put down” that I find distasteful.

I have just read it and it shows his excellent skills at getting the point across.
I miss his television series.
It also contains much that can explain why a few people spend a lot of time and money restoring aircraft to act as memorials.

The article that Clive James refers to is this one:
That is a very well written piece from Mr James – must remember to look at it or catch the aural version on Radio 4.

Dan
