RE: Well, well…

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-03-02 AT 11:28 AM (GMT)]Glenn, the Avon Saber, though American initially, was not American. The Avon Jet engine was British and when Australia Selected the F-86 as a replacement for the Meteor, they were unimpressed with alot of things!
First to go was the .50 cal guns, replaced with two 20mm Hispano Cannons.

The engine was also changed, and in order to accomadate the new Avons some modifications were needed! So in effect, these machines were Australian. After their service with the RAAF, the RMAF used about 50 of them and only retired them in the 1980’s

They were also equiped to fire the AIM-9 Sidwinder, not sure if any other country’s Sabers were, but the American machines weren’t!

If memory serves they were designated CA-23’s, but don’t quote me on that!

I can do it, but I need your support!

4. Close, the I-15 was the bi-plane cousin.
5. Got the German bomber part right.
6. Nice to know!
7. A Yak? Fooled me.
8. Never would have guessed.
9. Early ‘American’ jet, got that part.

RE: Cockpit Challenge!

Ja, you tricky bugger!!

Ok, I’ll give this one a shot, I have probably seen older cockpits a lot more than the modern ones.

1. Green interior, 4 engines (by the throttle sticks), big, American? A B-24 perhaps?

2. I agree with Tony, got to be the Goose.

3. B-36

4. Open cockpit bi-plane?

5. Ar 234

6. ??

7. Definitely German, the RLM 01 interior. Fw-190?

8. ??

9. Early jet, American? Naval?

10. ?? Possibly German.

Tough ones Ja.

Regards, Glenn.

(p.s. any clues?)
