Cockpit/Panel Light to ID

I’m sure someone here can tell me what this light is from and where it would be used? Many thanks, Steve

Every man and his dog has a green Dodge. Far too many camo nets, sand bags and first vehicle ashore on D-Day in the military vehicle world! It was built 11th August 1944, and was used by the Norwegians after the war into the 1990’s.

I’ve seen both metal and bakelite versions in Stirling photos.

Are they wartime? All the snippets i can find tend to indicate towards the metal version in wartime aircraft.

I was curious because I got one in my Flying Control Dodge when I bought it and I’ve mounted it over the Meteorological Instrument Panel I just made.

And Vulcan – can be found on the CSDU Oil Temp panel in the AEO’s position – though interchangeable with the all metal type – presumably fitted whatever type they had available.

Used in varied marks of Canberra too – have seen them in B(I)8 Nav and Bomb Aimers position.

Looks similar to the one in the nose of a Shackleton

Stirling, Lancaster, Halifax, Sunderland etc etc, certainly the larger RAF aircraft, not sure about smaller types. Used to illuminate panels etc. The Stirling has them adjacent to the main instrument panel, navigators panel, Bomb Aimers station, Flight engineers and next to oxygen regulators scattered about the aircraft.
