Cockpit Quiz 1

Well here is a different quiz and an easy one to start you all off. First may I please ask a certain person, respectfully, to stay away and let the others have a go…I wont name him (BUT he knows who he is!!)

Basically, tell me as much about the cockpit (type, mark, tail no, location etc)
enjoy!

I promise that the next ones will be more difficult! :diablo:

Looks to me like the Southampton Mk24

Well done that man….photo taken Thursday…….

BTW as Mark12 said note the lead balance weight….this was added to reduce high control forces during high g manouevres. The Tempest and Typhoon had a lead weight on the base of the column to increase stick force per g. The spade grip weight was not an elegant solution at all!

OK – no problems then. I agree with Melv. Spitfire 24 at Southampton.

BTW> This was posted before I saw Melv’s photo 😀

I was getting the impression anyone called ‘Mark’ was banned from this quiz!

Control column top collectors.

Note the large lead mass damper at 6 o’clock on the spade grip.

Low back, Griffon Spitfire – perhaps the one that used to be at Cosford? MT847?

Late model Spitfire, probably a Mk.XIV?
