Cold War Fast Jet Flying- From the Cockpit

Cold War Fast Jet Flying- From the Cockpit. ( Starfighters and Hunters from a pilot’s perspective)

The latest in the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum’s (Aeroventure) continuing series of aviation and modelling lectures is sure to appeal to all those with an interest in classic jet fighters.

Best known for his exploits flying Harrier GR3’s on ground attack missions during the Falklands War, Sqn Ldr Jerry Pook flew the Hawker Hunter prior to this and was also detached to the Royal Netherlands Air Force flying F-104 Starfighters during the 1970’s.

Jerry will be relating his experiences flying these two, very different, types and attempting to put the audience ‘in the cockpit’.

Sqn Ldr Pook has recently had his book, detailing his Falklands War experiences, published and copies will be available on the night.

The date is Saturday 12th January 2008, with a start time of 7.00 p.m. The venue is the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, in Doncaster. Tickets are available priced at £7.50 and it is essential to pre-book as there is a limit of 55 seats for this event.

For further information and to book tickets telephone the Museum on 01302 761616 or Martin on 07990 764364.

Should be very good, and if I may be permitted to pitch in with a similar commercial, on Tuesday 8th January, the Milton Keynes Aviation Society has a talk by Reza Sohrabi about flying Phantoms and F-5s in the Iranian Air force.

Apparently tickets are going well but there are still a few left. I’ve heard Jerry before and he’s a very knowledgeable and entertaining speaker. Worth listening to.
