After a long winter/spring service XX900 will be doing her shake down runs next week, where (subject to serviceability) she will join the other 2 Bricks on the runway on the open day.
So we can see more things like this:

So at what point in the next millenium will the CAA approve of civil flights by jet warbirds?? After reading through the lightning site its been a good 15 yrs. with no decision, this must be a record even by bureacratic standards!!!! In the USA civilians are now operating the Mig 29. I get the impression that a rampant case of “Anal Glaucoma” is present at CAA.
Never being one to hold back, it really bugs me that these fine aircraft are being held back from thier natural environment by a bureaucrat with a crayon.

Folks,
Apparently the Vulcan will transit from the Southend show on the Saturday evening to Bruntingthorpe ready for the event on Sunday, the departure time is not fixed as it all depends on when the CWJ event finishes and the runway becomes clear and safe for departure.
The two seat Hunter has undergone a major amount of restoration in the last two years and the team are hoping to get her on display at the event, it may only be a slow trundle around but considering what they started with I will be mighty impressed to see her move under her own steam in any shape or form:).
Regards,
JB.

Possibly 3 buccs and 3 JP’s not sure if they’ll run en masse, as for the buccs it’ll depend how many air starts are serviceable enough to give the required pressure for the spey and enough crew to operate, however the buccs have had an influx of volunteers so they should be OK

I understand your frustration, I’m sure everyone does – but as there is no hope of anything other than the Vulcan flying on the CWJ Open Day, and that’s what this thread is about, perhaps we could leave this discussion for another time?
Are you able to make it on CWJ Day? So glad the vulcan can make it this year!

As the ex-Swiss Hunter has been gone for a while, is the mentioned Hunter the resident 2 seater? I didn’t think that this had it’s engine run yet?
The two seat hunter slow taxied last august and (i might be wrong but) may now be ready to fast taxi this time round. all credit to Bob and Geoffrey for all the hard work. she looks and sounds a real treat!!!

Hi John,
Only 3 1/2 weeks to go!

I’ve just seen the poster on the Lightning website you linked to: http://www.lightnings.org.uk/ – as you say, apparently the Vulcan is going to be there this year, on static during the day and then departing at the end of the show – how cool is that!
A high speed taxi of the Nimrod will be an interesting sight… plus the collection of a Victor, Canberra, Lightning, Buccanneers, Hunter, Jet Provost and Iskra – is so incredible – especially to be able to see them all as live aircraft – normally you can only see them placed on display in museums. I was never lucky enough to go to Brunty for the Thunder Days, so these open days are special for me – I certainly want to make the most of it while the aircraft are all still there and taxiable – not to mention seeing the practically complete reconstruction of the LPG Quick Reaction Alert hangar nestled in the wooded area!
The poster says gates open at 9am, and it should be a good value day out for the family as accompanied under-16’s gain free entry! I’m happy being able to see all the above and supporting the LPG and CWJ at the same time.
Hope to see you there!
