Hi Billbattle,
my name is Ken Mellor now of Warrington Cheshire. I have been doing some Genealogy work on the Mellor family Tree.
My Dad Colin Mellor worked for Fairy from around 1937 and was with them for 36 Years (?). I know he worked on the Halifax, Gannett, Rotadyne , a small Dish at Jodrall Bank and then Moved to the Nebular Division working on Dungeness B and became Resident Site Engineer at Trawsfynydd in North Wales. He was made redundant in the sixties and remained in Criccieth N Wales until his death in 1979.
My Mother Florence (Flo) also worked at Heaton Norris along with her Sister Nonie Bell. I have some recollection of The Dope shop being mentioned!
I would be grateful of any information on Colin or Flo an Noni though the latter is unlikely. When did he join the Company, in what capacity and from where.I know he was Forman and grew a Moustache to make himself look older! My own recollections are of attending the Fairy Children’s Christmas Parties, Listening to The Fairy Brass Band
and My Dad taking me me to the Plant at Trawsfynydd and seeing the Carbon Blocks being placed in the Reactor! Some years ago I was a Director of Spectrum Arena Ltd and we hosted the Band of the Year Contest, Yes one of the Contestants was the Fairy Band.
What was the driving fact behind your research into Fairies? s the Battle in your username anything to do with the Fairy Battle/
Looking forward to hearing from you
Yours Faithfully
Ken Mellor

Fairey Information Source
Hallo Monarchmel….I’ve sent you a PM (see top right on forum page)
Not sure how much security there was regarding his Nucelar Work. I went to sea at 17. Got married and he moved to Cricceth N Wales. So our prime time together was fairly limited.
I have been working on Genealogy projects recently. One thing this has taught me is that we do not talk and record Family matters when we have the chance. then one Day it;s too late!! I am in my 70’s so I guess there is little Chance of finding much information, on Colin’s early time with Fairey. I am producing a document for the Family Archives, showing what he did where he lived etc. Hopefully in years to come it will be found interesting, by our decendents to have a little more than aplace in the Family tree with Birth, Death Stats.
I know most of the Projects he was involved in, certainly by name. Thought it would be nice to authenticate some of them!!.
