I have been writing on this website now for close to 2 years and i enjoy reading about other peoples knowledge on military aviation and such like, what qualifies you to comment on some of the issues raised on the pages and what did you study at uni/college to support them??

RE: College Qualifications , Degrees………
Check out a thread a while back called “what do you work as”. It amazing, noone here works in the aerospace/aviation industry, noone flys for the military, civil or sport aviation (except for wysiwyg). What we all need to do is go to our local AFBs and ask pilots and technitions to visit this site to offer hands on info, instead of the oddball fluff thats been cloging the AFM forum as of late.
BTW-Ive never been to uni, and have no professional experience in aviation.

RE: College Qualifications , Degrees………
hmmm going around blowing things up…sounds like fun!
I want to be a demolition man!
I have no real qualification in military aviation(i do have the means to apply for and gain a qualification in aerospace studies from my recent five years as a cadet)
My info comes from reading, listening, watching, and making…..its quite interesting how you can appreciate an aircraft a bit more, mechanically and aerodynamically from actually sitting down and making the thing…albeit in plastic.
and now an enginering degree which is based on the aero side of things..

College Qualifications , Degrees………
Well i got into aviation in 1998 after buying the july edition of AFM at the shops (i only went in for a pint of milk!), i started to read about greece’s tendering process for a next generation fighter and since then i was hooked!!.
I did physics at uni for a year but i got bored because IMHO i feel you can only study physics at advanced level only if you had an interest in it at an early age and i wasn’t the type of kid who went around experimenting and blowing things up…i was more sporty.
I am now in my last year of a Business economics degree ‘ere in London

I have no qualification in aviation, I wanted to be a vet, but my interest came about due to the fact that I went to airshows at Finningley when I was small, up until the age of 13. I had my first holiday by air when I was four. I had my first flight in a 747 when I was five and I’ve flown most years since. My knowledge comes about through reading up on aircraft, learning to observe all different types to get the best photo and video footage and when I was small I used to help my Grandfather make models.

JAG – I find your post very sobering. It makes me realise just how fortunate I am to have lived without the fear of having to go to war myself.

RE: College Qualifications , Degrees………
Well,
I am an eletrical enginnering student, but I havent learned anything specifically related to aviation on yet. All my knowledge in aviation come from my 5 years reading articles in magazines and internet. My only activity related to aviation is skydiving, but I just have 3 jumps on yet (2 static line jumps, and one free fall that I did yesterday… 🙂 ).
Regards,
Junin

RE: College Qualifications , Degrees………
I’ve been interested in aviation since I was 9 years old, I’m now 20! ll my knowledge has built up from reading books, watching tv documentaries, this forum, and talking to random people in the aero world. I don’t specialize in any one type of aviation, I know a littlke bit about a wide range of stuff!
I’m now doing an Aeronautical Engineering degree!

RE: College Qualifications , Degrees………
Like the gent above i have no qualification what so ever relating to aviation.. In short i started my degree in Civil Engineering,,, then war started.. got conscripted.. wasted 2.5 years of my life for nothing.. then once war stoped moved to Serbija to continue studies.. studued for 1 year…theb got Citizenship and Pasport,, then some wise guy discovered i didnt formaly serve in army.. so i did 15 months in VJ.. then studied some more.. then moved to australia just ahead of whole Kosovo saga.. and finaly finished my degree here year and a half ago after much trouble of getting them to recognise my studies from abroad. Now i work in the field. So as u can se nothing to do with aviation what so ever… infact my whole interest arroused from wisiting this forum by accident.. i saw a AFM mag on stang with something about Yugoslavia ,, bought it.. red it.. got interested.. looked it up onlie, came to the forum, saw one of the INKs posts here, got positively suprised to se a X countryman, so i joined in disscusion even though my aviation knowledge was 0.. and what ever i have learned ive learned since then ( i came here back in 2000-2001 ) from this forum, mags and some books i started to by. Hence there is how my interest in aviation was born 🙂
