Combat Flight Sim

Can anybody suggest a decent WW2 combat flight sim for a PC that I can play online with other users.

If you have the time http://www.joint-ops.com/php2/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 would be worth it. I start tonight and it lasts for 2 weeks.

Hello wimpey, please read http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645 This thread as it has lots of useful info 🙂 It also might be worth joining a squad for training, co ops and general fun.

Ordered ILS 1946 from Amazon cant wait to load it and get it up and running. As for playing with cheat modes it does kill the game, found this out when playing other games online and being shot at by your own side. Al the FW190 is a good choice of aircraft to go into combat with, thanks again for all the advice.

I tried going online once, with my favourite flight sim, called ‘Janes WW2 Fighters’ – what a laugh!
From the chat, the other participants seemed to treat each other as if they were battle-hardened veterans occupying a wartime crewroom.
“Haven’t heard of Lt Dracothraxus for a while – is he still around?” “Didn’t you hear? He crashed and burned last month.” “Shame – he was a good officer and a damn fine wing man!”. Geez…
There didn’t seem to be much actual flying going on, either. On the first online dogfight, as soon as my FW190 was on the opponent’s tail, he promptly vanished, only to appear on my tail in an instant. When I offered to take anyone on without cheats or resets, nobody took me up!

You’re welcome and yeah, track IR is a fantastic bit of kit MM (it works in Aces High too)

IL2 seems to be the retail game of choice, you can pick up the latest version IL2:1946 pretty cheaply and I think it includes all the earlier versions. You’ll need to download the hyperlobby software to play it online and it will also require patching to the latest version.

I’ve recently started playing Aces High (http://www.hitechcreations.com) again after a break of several years. It’s an online sim with limited offline game play, the game is a free download with two weeks free access to the online play, after which there is a subscription fee. The learning curve is very steep but I’m enjoying playing again.

Hope This Helps!

Bruce
