combat records, accurate accounts or political propaganda?

When i read the different accounts of the so called confirmed kills, i see great divergence and what is claimed by each side, take for consideration that the western powers always claim SAMs shot down their aircrafts and the Russians affirm those were air to air kills.
are really as accurate the kills reports?
