This chair, made by a company called Carter, is standing in a Dutch museum. It is said to come from a WW2 bomber(navigator B17/B24?) and there are some bullet holes in it.The museum wants to know in which type(s) it was used, but on the other hands there is also doubt it has no aviation orign. Any one can help?

Correct me if I am wrong but, if this is indeed an aviation seat, how would have been secured to the aircraft?
The picture of the seat in Mary Alice is of similar shaped design but there is a circular tube around the feet. Was this the fixing?
The museum chair does look the same but could the seat itself be from a normal office chair? The back rest looks original and the seat harness but the I am not convinced about the legs.
This is only an observation and not doubting it is an original aircraft seat.

It’s definitely American, it’s painted in Dull Dark Green which was a common interior primer… it does indeed match well with that Fort seat, I’ll check a couple refs to see if it matches a Liberator seat as well.
Glad I wasn’t in it when those bullet strikes were made…

It compares well with this B-17 Bombardier’s chair from the B-17G “Mary Alice” at IWM Duxford.
