While surfing the net I landed on a Mexican flight-sim forum which contained some interesting news. Thanks to the google translate feature in Google Chrome I was able to understand this topic:

It appears that the ex-Mexicana Comet 4C XA-NAT / N777WA C/N 6443, which has been on display for many years in the zoo of the city of Irapuato in Mexico, was offered for sale in late 2011. The topic just stops dead with opinions expressed that this Comet should be saved indeed, but no news on any action taken follows. And nothing on the WWW also.
Here are some pics of the comet in question:

http://tinyurl.com/creswmm shows it on its last known location in the Irapuato Zoo.
This aircraft has been reported as being in a bad state, but you never know…

I’d pay good money to see a comet 1 flying! Or failing that, a comet 4. Beautiful aircraft.

Considering the amount of work and time the Seattle Museum of Flight has expended on another Mexicana Comet…which was one of the last of the Mexican jets to fly and was in decent external shape…I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a restoration to flight.
Still, (as I’ve said before) it would be nice to have a flying Comet in the UK.
I would have rather seen a Comet in the UK skies for the next 20-30 years, than spending the same amount of money (or more) on having a Vulcan fly for just a few. Don’t take that as a slap against the Vulcan or the VTTS, rather a simple matter value for money.
Perhaps the VTTS supporters could take on a new project? If the UK want’s to celebrate its aviation heritage, it needs a flying Comet.
