Just to let you all know we are having another open day at the Comet restoration building at Derby airfield this sunday for those who missed the last one due to there being an open day at Bruntingthorpe on that same day.
You can see the progress we are making and we will also have the video running of the original Pathe news reels of the 1934 race.
We are planning a bigger open day in October to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the race where we plan to try and have an engine running, but are still struggling to find a suitable propeller. We have new zero timed props for the aeroplane but are reluctant to use one of these unless we have to. Thanks to those who made suggestions of help the last time I asked but we are still looking.

As an added bonus there is a Waco biplane in the hanger for some maintenance work, a fantastic looking aeroplane, if you ask nicely I am sure someone will show you around it.
Also one of the restoration group members will bw having a book sale on the day of old aeroplane books to help rais fundds, he says he has about 150 so plenty to go through.

Good luck with the open day. As i am not up to date with things can you tell me which Comet you have.. as i presume its ‘Black Magic’ and not ‘Grosvenor House’ (think thats right!). Or is it a new build or replica.?
