Comets at Farnborough 1987

Hi all,

my first post on the KPL forums. Here goes….

On 17JUL1987 I flew on US Army UH-1 67-19537 from Calais to Fairford to attend IAT87. When we flew over Farnborough I noticed two Comets on the ground: one in the raspberry ripple colour scheme and the other in white colours.
The former is most probably XV814 as I understand it was the only Comet in these colours – I stand to be corrected though.
The latter gives me a bit of headache: it’s either XS235 Canopus on a visit from Boscombe Down or the Nimrod prototype XV147. My eyesight was much better then and I strongly refuse to think that I mixed up a Comet with a Nimrod – albeit from 3000ft and with its tail fin missing.

Is there somebody on this forum who can tell for sure which frames I saw – even details of the whereabouts of XS235 around that time might help.
