Hey everyone, loooong time without posting here! I start my integrated training at Oxford in December for those of you interested.
Anyway, I am after getting any films that involve commercial aviation or aircraft. The ones that come to my mind are:
Rough Air – Danger On
Air Force One
Airplane
Any others? It doesn’t matter how bad they are!
Thanks for the help,
Mark

I can’t recommend “The High and the Mighty” enough starring John Wayne. It’s a film adaptation of a novel by Ernest Gann. If you haven’t he’s novels are a must read for any aspiring commerical pilot. “Fate is the Hunter” is Gann talking about his experiences as a new airline pilot post WWII when commerical aviation as we know it was getting started. What he writes is outstanding since it’s about pilots written by a pilot.

Not really films, but you should try to get your hands on the French made documentary “Tankers en Plein Ciel”, which is about B-727’s in Angola flying around as tankers to supply diesel fuel for mining operations to/from dirt airstrips, and the Danish made documentary “Jesus Christ Airlines” which tells the story of the semi-illegal operations of civil airliners flying food and weapons during the Biafran war from Sao Tomé the to Ulli airstrip.

www.itvv.co.uk is your best bet.
They are not dramatised and hence are your best resource other than the expensive training videos.
