Message for Robmac

Thanks MarkG,

The reason im asking is as previously noted. Ima Radio Control Model aircraft nut. And im debating building a large scale jet turbine powered T11. May be about 1/4 scale?

Being large scale I want to replicate the construction of the fullsize as far as possible including pod construction.

Wondering Has anybody got any pics of T11’s under construction or drawings to show the planking layout? You know what they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hello Robmac

I have a number of original DH drawings for single seat / 2 seat vampire cockpit woodwork assemblies, including the main bulkheads. These will aide in the rebuild of my VZ193 eventually. I also have a copy of Aircraft Production that shows the build process of the wooden vampire fuselage halves, just the same as the Mosquito and Hornet.

Send me a pm, and we can sort out getting you some copies.

Hope this helps?

————————————————————————–

Rob, having posted you these drawings and a copy of Aircraft Production, some two months ago now, and after many attempts to e-mail you, I would appreciate you sending me a cheque, as previously agreed. This time, one that doesn’t bounce…..!

Dave- the buyer’s name doesn’t give much hope for optomism although I was under the impression that Karl up in Newcastle had bought some Vampire parts up there.

The Vampire at Carlisle Airport has recently been taken off display. It has been partially dismantled and taken into the museum workshops for restoration over the winter. Hopefully it will be back on display in better condition in the spring.

Watch this space – I hope to start on it in a small way over Christmas, and go from there.

Bruce

One way of avoiding the nappy changing/feeding thang!
watch out for ear-ache though, I tend to get it when involved in winter projects…..especially when the other half is dealing with little ‘uns 😉

Just a gentle bump back to the top.

I took delivery of the aeroplane today, courtesy of Mr Parkhouse.

Sadly, it has suffered since I first saw it a couple of years ago, and the fuselage is now in quite poor condition. First job then is to get the fuselage undercover, and dry it out. There are no physical holes in it yet, but it wont be long if it stays outside.

The panels and metalwork are generally OK, but I will be looking to replace some of its extremities in due course!

Watch this space – I hope to start on it in a small way over Christmas, and go from there.

Any chance of a hi-res copy – for my private collection? After this, it was converted and went on to serve with RAFC and then CATCS.
Bruce

What happened Bruce?
I still have no email address to mail your high res scan to?

Bruce;
You can either send me your email address through a Private message or send it through my website (URL link is in my signature, below)I just scanned it at 600 dpi and that is at size 3 x5 inches and the file size for email would be 304kb
I also scanned it high res at 1200 dpi and that would give you a larger photos, and the size of the file to email would be just over IMb. Just let me know your preference.
I have lots of photos (& Negatives) of DH. including Hummingbird, Hercules, Flamingo & Albatros, along with all the more famous models.

David;
I went through ALL 567 prints (the negatives are additional..)AGAIN! These are not sorted, except as “DH Vampires”, as opposed to the separate files of Sea Vixen; Venom; and Sea Venom etc etc. which are part of a much larger collection.(of mostly British a/c) Most have dates and codes and misc info on the back in a script that is hard for me to read.
Sea Vixen; Venom; and Sea Venom etc etc.
I am as disappointed as you to come up without XE985. The closest
I have, are good shots of XE982 and XE995, taken in 1995 and 1983, respectivley. Have lots of other XEs, including XE923 taken in 1956. I do have a photo of a line of seven Vampires with #s VZ 309;174;190 and about four other numbers getting smaller and would need some magnification. But, I tried..
Bruce;
I shall be happy to email you a scan of higher resolution. (Without the nasty overlay printing)
Would you prefer one around 250-300 kb or 1 Mb or? and special dpi (200;300;600?)
I assume you want the one of WZ584 ?

Barnstormer – you star!

Any chance of a hi-res copy – for my private collection? After this, it was converted and went on to serve with RAFC and then CATCS.

You have solved one problem for me – I cant paint it in that scheme, as it was pre ejection seat!

Question for Barnstormer

Hello Barnstormer

Do you have a photo(s) by any chance of Vampire FB.5 VZ193 and also, for Vampire T.11 XE985 in your collection of 567 photos and negatives of Vampires?

cheers.

No – timber preservatives are oil based – you wont get paint, fabric, or anything else to stick to them. Someone tried that on our Sea Venom – and then had to try and get it out again….

Bruce

Just bumping this back to the top again after confirming what I thought I read on a tin of wood preservative in my shed.

Cuprinol Wood Preserver – Clear. Can be glued, stained, varnished or painted after the wood has dried, usually 3 – 5 days, longer if cold etc.

I know it works, painting wise that is – not preserving, I only did it a few weeks ago on a door frame.

Likely to be of interest?
