John Barry died today,aged 77.
People of a certain age will remember his music for the TV show Juke Box Jury. My particular favourite of his many compositions is the music for the film Zulu.
Here’s his 007 theme. What a talent.

I have a JB LP at home with most of his famous tunes on it inc ‘Hit and Miss’ from juke box jury,he was a very talented man.
The original 007 theme was outstanding !

Agree with all the sentiments above.
And yes BumbleBee I am of that age, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_2lqnTuxjg and even remember The Beatles being on the panel.
Such a shame that most people don’t realise what a great composer he was. Yes, everyone remembers the title songs of his films, but the incindental music is just as good – dare I say, occasionally even better.
One from Midnight Cowboy that has been used for a number of sports programmes.

RIP JB – 007’s never been the same without you.

Brilliant film score composer, whose songs and melodies will run around the memory for years to come.

Very sad.
The first LP I ever bought was “the Concert John Barry” but as my musical tastes developed and changed I never lost my love of his majestic compositions. A great talent and a marvellous legacy of music.
