no problem with getting some high res pictures – have put together a small digital slide show of the event which I would be happy to send you along with some other pics.
Have sent a pm as well.

well done btw 🙂

Nice pics.

I went to a race at Leicester a few years ago, quite impressive to see all the aircraft approaching the finish line together.

Super pics paulc. That’s me flying the Rallye (No 54)! Any chance of obtaining some higher-res versions?

I’ve posted some of my RIAT pics next to yours. Happy to trade! 🙂

Steph,

a race is 4 laps over an approx 25mile circuit with monitored turning posts and is done on a handicap system with the slowest aircraft off first and fastest last with the aim to have them all finish roughly at the same time. In this case it workd quite well with the first aircraft off crossing the finish line approx 30 seconds before the quickest. The start order was – Rallye, AA1, B121 Pup , AA5A, Bulldog x2, AA5B, RV7 x2, TB20, SF260, Be55 with the finish order being Rallye, Be55, vans RV7 etc
The pics I took with the aircraft coming towards me were from the scatter point at the end of the runway which is the first turning point to ‘join’ the proper circuit.

Thank you! I did enjoy the pictures too.

Sorry to be ignorant but what did exactly the “race” part consist of? Navigation stuff or quickest circuit?…

Thanks for the comments – at least these pictures are in the correct forum or perhaps the Tiger Moth should go in historic.;)

2nd batch – Yaks did not take part but did a couple of practice shows during the day – very impressive.
