I thought i’d try the collective wisdom on this forum a try before stooping to go onto a gaming site 😉
Does anyone know if there is a patch to modify the engine sounds on IL2 FB so that they sound more realistic?
And don’t try to tell me that no-one here plays it 😀

Thanks guys,I agree with Trumper-the engine sounds are the one thing I’d critisize about the game.I run Il2 Forgotten Battles with the Ace packand Battle over Europe (which I recieved from Flypast very promptly after ordering)
I have just upgraded to a Pentium 4 and the game still sticks,especially when the skies are crowded,so don’t lose hope,stick with it and thanks for the help.

This is the reply I got from your original question when I asked on another BB:
“You can only change the radio speeches, but you can’t touch the engine sounds, those are hardcoded into the sim and only the 1C team can modify them… which is a real shame since the sound engine is in my book the greatest shortcoming of FB “

Tuck257 – I’m in the same boat as you. When I run this game on my computer (Win.XP) it routinely crashed and no-one seemed to be able to suggest a fix. A shame really, as when it was working it looked really good…

Well i have had it for about 6 months and still havn’t played it. Don’t think my comp likes it as it wont play it. If anyone has any ideas as to why? :confused:
Are you referring to the original IL or the forgotten Battles which now has been patched with the Aces expansion Pack.I would suggest you look at this il2 forum and ask but make sure you let them know which version of il2 you have. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=frm&s=400102&f=49310655
As for the engine sounds it is about the worst bit of the game but don’t be put off the rest of it is fantastic and the free patches etc are ,well Spitfires etc need i say more 😀
