Computer Games – what are you playing?

I’m currently almost finished Blazing Angels on the XBox. Got stuck for ages on the Rabaul mission until I figured out what to do (the other “pilot” advise you to do something entirely different!).

The latest mission currently involves zooming up the river running through Berlin, taking out radar sites along the banks, and having to wait for my back-up to arrive! Fun!!

You know there is a “patch” the means Disk 4 is not needed!

Really?! Do fill me in, that could help a lot!

Well on me way back from the airport on Saturday it occurred to me that I hadn’t got myself a new game in ages! so went into GAME and had a browse and was split between Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Black with the latter being a fiver more expensive at £35.

After about 15 minutes of staring at each box 😀 I chose Mr Clancy’s latest edition, must say I’m quite impressed. When compared to the last versions which to be honest were square, predictable and just plain easy! this has a stronger and more interactive teamwork element, varied selection of weapons and the missions are more complex and exciting but still your basic shoot em up. I am enjoying it though, done about 25% now

Well worth a look, I just gave a quick and probably poor explanation :diablo: 😉 😎 .

I got GRAW for me birthday 🙂 my first Clancy’s game for PS2,Just wondering do you only control 1 man so far I think its a good game still don’t know how to control the apache yet still getting use to the controls 😀

Oblivion, a single-player RPG.

Awesome, just like it’s predecessor Oblivion.

Oh I agree, Advanced War Fighter is better than the first two – Ghost Recon’ and Island Thunder – but on XBox u can shoot a Mexican rebel with ur sniper rifle straight through the eyes and the bloke just shrugs it off (tough blokes those Mexicans :p ) and I just down get the whole UAV thing, appears on a little box in the upper right (???) section of ur HUD where u can barely see it. And when I tell my guys to advance, I’D LIKE THEM TO SHOOT BACK IF THEY’RE GETTING SHOT AT, NOT STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREETS GOING “Ouch” and “I’m hit”…well get out of the way then Numb Nut’s!!! 😀

I’ve been playing Pro Evolution Soccer 4 almost everyday since October 2004, and despite getting more games, I just can’t keep away.

Got OutRun2006 the other day for PS2 after loving the arcade version, not that keen thus far!

Future Pilot, sorry thought u were playim’ XBox, played GR2 on PS2 on my mates console and I gotta say it sucked in comparrison, it’s a different storyline yet a few years before the XBox version and the AI seemed less developed than the XBox. U never got to play Summit Strike I take it? Set in Kazakhstan, lots of fun and very challenging!!!

Couldn’t agree more, the first couple of Ghost Recon’s on the PS2 were terrible although I did buy them and play them :D, if you get a chance get a look in at the newest one I mentioned above.
I really didn’t recognise the game, complete revamp in my opinion with regards to Missions, graphics, level variety and layout. The fact that there are multiple routes to completing a mission instead of jst one. The AI seems to of improved alot at the same time.

DazDaMan, if u liked Blazing Angels then try Heroes of the Pacific. Having felt let down by Secrets over Normandy I was a bit reluctant to by H of the Pacific but when I got it cheap ( a tenner) I took the chance and am now busy blasting those damn Jap’s out of the sky…no offence to any of our Oriental friends intended 😉

Got them both! 😉

I must say, for sheer playability, HotP is the better one, but I do like SWoN because you can pick and choose your enemies in the dogfight mode.

One of my fave CFS games for the PlayStation is WingOver – I’ve mentioned this before on another thread, but it’s a great little game where you basically have to manage a team of fighter pilots and play against others, hopefully working your way up the league table. Max fun! 😀

Right now, I’m just about to launch back into Gun – it’s not a huge or difficult game, granted, but it’s just a lot of fun! 😀

Future Pilot, I too have purchased (well exchanged actually) Ghost Recon’s latest outting and I must say I’m not impressed, that is surprising since I loved all the others (especially the last two, Summit Strike and GR2 set in Korea). Can’t believe they went back to third person and the images look bit too grainy for XBox.

I was referring to the PS2 version, quite frankly with the HUD and first person views I think the graphics are preety sharp and consider this was a great improvement.

I’m not one for games these days, somehow really slipped away from them so I’m stuck with FIFA 2006, managing Liverpool at the mo through a few seasons..

Barnowl – Hearts of Iron II, is that a new strategy? I’m a big strategy fan on my PC and am currently addicted to two oldies…Railroad Tycoon and C&C Red Alert 2. I’m looking for a WWII game based on strategy and would love to know if H of I fits the bill. 🙂
