Computer Games – what are you playing?

I’m currently almost finished Blazing Angels on the XBox. Got stuck for ages on the Rabaul mission until I figured out what to do (the other “pilot” advise you to do something entirely different!).

The latest mission currently involves zooming up the river running through Berlin, taking out radar sites along the banks, and having to wait for my back-up to arrive! Fun!!

Well on me way back from the airport on Saturday it occurred to me that I hadn’t got myself a new game in ages! so went into GAME and had a browse and was split between Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Black with the latter being a fiver more expensive at £35.

After about 15 minutes of staring at each box 😀 I chose Mr Clancy’s latest edition, must say I’m quite impressed. When compared to the last versions which to be honest were square, predictable and just plain easy! this has a stronger and more interactive teamwork element, varied selection of weapons and the missions are more complex and exciting but still your basic shoot em up. I am enjoying it though, done about 25% now

Well worth a look, I just gave a quick and probably poor explanation :diablo: 😉 😎 .

And I have just completed Blazing Angels! That’ll be the mini-campaigns unlocked now! 😀

that sounds awesome, i wonder if there are any plans to release it on PS2 as i’ve been stuck on ace combat for about a year!!

I don’t think so, although it is out on PC and XBox 360. The depictions of the fighters are very nice (although obviously simplified paint schemes etc for the console), and the fighting is very intense! There’s obviously option to play the game live, and multiplayer. There’s also an arcade combat option, mini-campaign and “ace combat”.

So – it’s quite good, really! 😀

Hearts of Iron II for the PC. Currently playing as the USSR: Here’s a quick after action report:

I invaded and annexed Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in 1936, and declared war on Germany as soon as they attacked Poland (even though I accepted the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement). By invading in the south of Poland, eventually I had Germany on ther ropes by May 1940. Hungary changed sides to mine as soon as I invaded them and so they became part of my alliance.

In this episode, Republican Spain triumphed over Nationalist Spain, and with careful influencing of them, they joined the military alliance with me in Febuary 1940. By March 1940, Germany was totally defeated and I turned my attention to Italy- who put up one **** of a fight until I reached Rome. At this point, the UK (and later France) guarenteed my existance and declared war on Italy and Switzerland (meih… why not ). Switzerland fell within two weeks.

Three months after that- and with public dessent rising I decided to call peace with Italy to allow my forces to re-equip. Getting bored I mounted my first full-scale sea-borne invasion (of Ireland) and secured a large foot hold in Turkey.

By January 1942, I controlled Turkey and all of mainland Italy (after fending off another sea-borne invasion from the Italian North African bases). The United States declared war on me in Febuary 1942, as did the Phillipines, which lead to a small landing in Vladivostok which was dealt with by my Armoured Eastern forces (lead by Zhukov) and lead to the UK and her Empire declaring war on the US. By this point I was manically building transports and moving a huge number of forces east to try and invade the US before the UK did, via Canada.

Communist China allied with myself against Nationalist China, which was beaten back until they only had two territories left.

By January 1944 I had enough forces and ships availible to transport them to the US via island hopping and landed on the East coast in tandem with British forces who nvaded from Canada. Currently, the US of A is being pulverised, whilst I am about 26% off developing nuclear fuel, and have jet fighters flying about shooting down B-17’s.

Thats how the situation stands at March 25th, 1944. Ill post a screenie soon.
