Starting a few days ago, whenever I am connected to the internet and I want to scroll up or down a page, it takes ages for the page to scroll up or down, in addition to this when I type any text such as I am now the cursor moves very slowly across the screen and then a few seconds later the text appears, also when I click on a button the response is very slow, this only happens when I’m on the net, if I’m using windows explorer for example everythings fine, I hope someone can help?:(

frankvw, many thanks from me too. My computer must have acculmulated so much cr$p over the last 18 months, including all that registry stuff you mentioned. Now it’s much better.
I’ve got a seperate problem with direct9, post to follow 🙂

You’re welcome… I see that problem everyday, at work, and the classic answer is “but I don’t surf the web, i only go on the company website”. Yeaaaaaah right. 😉

Frank you’re a star!, I downloaded the program you suggested and it worked brilliantly, everything is now performing as it was before, the amount of things it found that should not have been there was amazing!, thanks for the info.

The MSBlast virus takes up 90% of your bandwidth!

Try this:
download this program:
http://www.tucows.com/preview/236049.html
it is called ad-aware and comes from www.lavasoftusa.com
It removes spywares like Gator, … I guess you have some of them, and they slow down your internet connection, and computer.
I think it is worth a try.

Hi Dazza,
I have the same problem myself from time to time.
In my case, the problem appears not with Internet, but when the connection to my other computer is cut (I have a small LAN).Then, all activity in the remaining (host) computer, seems to slow down as you describe, but not so severely.
I would also be interested to hear from the more enlightened members of this forum, about the possible causes of this problem.
