computer processor speed question

quite simple really.

is there a difference between the ‘clock speed’ of a computer and the speed given after the processor name if you select ‘properties’ in ‘my computer’?

as far as i know, these should be the same shouldnt they? :confused:

im asking because the processor speed given in my new laptop is different from the one listed on the website i bought it from.

any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated.
