Hi! Can anyone tell me on what days and times I can see Concorde take off and land at LHR?
Also, where can I get closest to her on take off? and where are the best photography positions?
Paul.

Yeah that is a good idea, but why should it be for her??? It would just be like giving the farewell of concorde to the queen as a present, if you get what I mean?
She probably not fussed whether or not concorde continues to fly anyhow?
I think what ever they do to give concorde a send off it should be done for those who really appreciate her!

How about a flyby down the Mall to celebrate the Queen’s next birthday? It was impressive last time they did that!

Isn’t Farnborough every year?
My mistake!

Do you mean an exclusive Farnborough air show at the end of the year for example or at the main one in July 2004, 9 months after the aircraft is withdrawn from public service?

5 or 6 won’t be repeated because I think only 4 are or ever will be Airworthy.
4 may happen though at an airshow (possibly Farnborough) but they would have to stop the LHR – JFK service.
They have to do something special to say farewell and a UK tour seems to make sense.

I don’t think that is likely to happen. Last month’s Airliner World showed a photograph of 5 or 6 Concordes flying in formation and the caption was something like “never to be repeated..” Mind you, this was written before the announcment that Concorde would be withdrawn from service.

Andrew – if they did you would have no chance of getting on there – what after press, TV, media, VIPs, official spotters clubs, employees etc etc – u’d have to camp out days beforehand to do so…

Dusseldwarf and I were at the LHR collectors fair in October last year (LHR Visitors’ Centre).
Concorde took off whilst we were outside in the car park next to the runway. It was breath taking!!!!

brenmcc1 – if you look bak in the archieves there’s been about 5 threads on this subject over the last 2 weeks which may be of interest to you…

I’m off to Manchester and Liverpool next Monday – Manchy cos my Mum wants to see a TCX B752 “what i’m going on holiday in” as she says, and Liverpool to scout around for accomodation and a sneeky peek at whats in Ezywise!

Interesting little article in todays Mirror about Concorde, it does seem pretty certain that it will end in October unfortunately, but the particularly interesting bit:
“Around five low-level flights from Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle are being planned so millions can wave farewell to the droop-nosed jet”.
Sounds good, think I’ll have to be at MAN for that one!
