Concorde Anouncement by BA

HUNDREDS OF CONCORDE TICKETS TO BE WON

Hundreds of people in the UK will win the chance to fly on Concorde before

it retires in a competition launched today, Friday July 11.

Each lucky winner will make history as a passenger on a special supersonic

farewell tour of the UK, at the end of October.

To win one of the 325 pairs of tickets callers should ring 09069 150 001

and answer a simple question. Each correct answer will then be entered into

a prize draw.

The tour will be the last ever chance to watch Concorde fly over the UK and

will include visits to Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester and

Belfast . During the week of October 20, the supersonic aircraft will

visit a different city each day giving thousands of people the chance to

see the aircraft and say their own goodbyes.

Competition winners will win a pair of tickets on one leg of the tour,

which includes a champagne flight reaching twice the speed of sound over

the Bay of Biscay.

Martin George, British Airways director of marketing, said:

” This competition marks the first in a series of events we have planned to

ensure that Concorde gets the send off she deserves.

“Concorde is a fantastic aircraft, which means so much to so many people.

We want as many people as possible to experience supersonic travel before

Concorde retires at the end of October.”

Lines close at midnight on Sunday July 20.

I suppose if you can call international to the number given and were picked you would be entitled to fly. Calls cost £2 in the UK. I think BA are keeping the fleet within the UK. But you never know! They have other ideas still to announce, including mass formation of either 4 or 5 birds which is rumoured!

Do you know if this is only open for UK inhabitants or also foreigners? If not, will there be an action like that for Holland and other countries? I’d love to see Concorde visit Schiphol… (ooh, and a flight would be nice too)
