Maybe the photo was taken with a long lens with a huge focal length. I mean both the tree and the boom are in focus after all.

You could always super-impose a P-38 over the top so that you had a twin boom.

Alpha-Golf flying from New York entered British airspace for the last time at 3.15pm, dropping below the speed of sound off the west coast of Ireland.
The ‘boom’ travels 7 miles behind the aircraft leaving the ‘boom’ in the Altantic just off Ireland and not in the pub car park!

I’m annoyed as I really wanted the lampost. It wasn’t mentioned if you got the tree however. Still for history like this its got to be worth a bid!
