I’m sure everyone knows that Concorde is doing a UK tour in October before BA take it out of service.
The tour starts the on the 20th October and each weekday will fly from heathrow to each of these cities,
1. MANCHESTER
2. BELFAST
3. BIRMINGHAM
4. CARDIFF
5. EDINBURGH
I’m preety sure i will be in collage on the day it comes to Birmingham, so i’ll probably miss it:( , unless it’s a friday when i have a day off.
Is anyone going to be at one of these airports when concorde lands or will you be at work, collage or school?

Nationwide Air, I am looking at my Pooleys flight guide here and Stansted has a runway of 3,048m, only 100m less than Gatwick, and the exact same length as Manchester’s 06L. Concorde has visited Stansted many times before, and I have a photo taken by my dad from the front of a tug as he pushed it back, it’s amazing how it looks from that angle, it looks impossible to move it anywhere!

Hi,
I don’t think any airport in East Anglia has a large enough runway for Concorde.

its a shame Concorde isn’t going to visit East Anglia and the southeast – why is it that she is mainly visiting northern areas of the country? If she visited Stansted, i might have a chance to see her as some of the Stansted flight paths come over Colchester (my town).
thanks,
adam

Anybody know when the last Concorde take-off from LHR is…???
Will this be on the day before (23rd) if three are due to land on the 24th……
Fortunately as I’m currently working in the World Business Centre I should be able to see the last days activities by walking outside the ofice door……:D

However the Flight Engineers have been offered Cabin Crew places! They are threatening to stirke about it too!

This is some ‘unofficial’ ifrormation on the last day at LHR. I would hope there would be some flypasts at Filton,Fairford and Farnborough on the way?
‘As you are probably aware, Concorde is due to make its final landings at Heathrow on Friday 24 October. BA want to mark the occasion with 3 successive landings – scheduled from 1500 UTC. We have been asked by BA if (on westerlies) we could accommodate their PR by descending to 3000ft over
the City, and running the three a/c in sequence from approx. 20 miles out.’
Sounds good 3 concs in the air at the same time. I think parking will be at a premium at LHR that day. Hopefully they will be on 27R so to view from the visitors centre??

Going from Concorde to anything will be like going from Ferrari to London Transport I’d have thought.
Another era in the romance of flight is closing firmly ! 🙁

I dont know, the 777 is not that bad a plane

Hi,
I think all ex. BA Concorde pilots will be very pleased with the transition to the 747-400. Plus they get to fly to more destinations Worldwide with the 747. I would rather fly the 747 then Concorde.

Dont you think that’s a bit unfair though? I suppose a lot that appeals to concorde pilots is the fact that you get to go half way accross the globe in a lot less time, meaning less time cramped up in the cockpit, whereas in a 747 your stuck with autopilot for hours upon end. I think if BA are going to do anything, they should atleast offer them any aircraft they want, after all it’s not their fault.

Hi,
Does anyone know what the concorde pilots are going to do once BA quits flying?
They are offering them 747-400’s.
