A question on identification of a Meteor Nose.
Other than an I.D. plate, is there anywhere else within the structure of the Meteor that would have the identification recorded?
The cockpit has been stripped in the past and there is very little trace of its origins. There is a serial number stenciled on an internal bulkhead but I am hoping tio find something more permanent.

The cockpit we have is A77-851.
However, I would like to trace any of the build I.D. numbers if possible.
The original I.D. plates are long gone.

A77? So this is in Australia? That narrows it down a bit

Thanks. I will try those areas, however from previous experience, anything painted on removable panels is no guarantee.
So far I have seen A77-851, 885, and 854.

I’m trying to reset the canopy rails at the moment and replace missing parts.

Cockpit i/d
Try looking on the underside of the various removable circular access covers dotted about the sides of the cockpit section. I have found the serial number marked there.
If it’s a day fighter version it may also be inside the cannon bay doors too as these, whilst interchangeable, were often marked as well.
