Hi All
Went to Tucson to work on a customers A4C Skyhawk build (to be finished in Argentine scheme) and looked in on Columbine 2 one of Eisenhower’s presidential aircraft, she is up for sale at $3.2m and is receiving engine work again to get her to ground running taxiable condition for a potential ferry flight to a museum. This is the 2nd time in 15 years the engines have been got running and takes considerable effort and expensive to do so, lets hope it gets sold.

What part did you get?
I have no idea what part it is, i was hoping for something obvious but they wouldnt let me take a canard or anything…..its carbon fiber so thats interesting…..i have added the Starship and A4 pictures to the web page now too. My boss was out busy dissassembling an F111 and moving it from Idaho to Wilcox AZ.

Thanks for the info, atleast they are stored in the best location possible. Great little airport, good diner and very busy when I was there. Flew out of there to DM and Pinal, amazing that Avra Valley has no ATC, just see, avoid, and make blind calls.

Mike are they liberater parts in your photo set, ( Scrap Yard)The Melbourne guys were looking for engine cover parts a while back.(cows)They needed three from memory. Cheers Jason
Yes they are the very rare LB-30 remains and are currently for sale apparently owned by Mr Whittington.
The DC4s are all owned by one guy i believe as is the Neptune etc will find out who that is as i cant remember now. Whilst i was there they were cutting up Beech Starships for spares recovery and i got me a piece.
The Australian Connie maybe heading there in pieces soon i am told too. It was great talking to the legendary JR Kern again famous for getting ‘Hawg Wild’ to Duxford and the MATS connie flying too.

The other Connie was purchased by the HARS Group in Australia for spares. There was some talk about moving it to Australia for static display. No idea who owns the DC-4s I’m afraid. When visiting Tuscon 3 or 4 years back I rented a C172 and flew over there to shoot them all from the air, one of the shots appeared in FlyPast at the time.

Sorry guys no lottery win last night or this would have been heading across the pond! Seriously saw this in 2010 and, from the outside, it looked weathered but in ok condition. Mike do you know what the situation of the other residents of that corner of Marana, the other connie DC-4 etc? Are they all owned by the same person?

A question relating to Constellations.
There is one parked at Manila airport, over from the new terminal. (that’s a story in itself!!)
Does anyone have any background on the aircraft…how long it’s been there…future?
