EDIT, FOLLOWING CONVERSATION BELOW – to avoid confusion (my fault) these are 1939 vintage, ie contemporary with manufacture, not contemporary as in modern!
Taken from another forum, but really very interesting if you like your Hurricanes and – dare I say it – Spitfires. Go to http://www.emeraldinsight.com/journals.htm?issn=0002-2667&volume=82&issue=3&&nolog=333227
username AEATguest, password emerald. Then ‘view as pdf’ each of the first three.
This is not a dodgy download site – far from it, emerald are known and respected in the engineering world. A chap called Alistair Craven from the emerald insight journals team (acraven@emeraldinsight.com) set this up to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the BoB
These are contemporary, in-depth engineering journal articles on Spit and Hurricane manufacture, as well as a state-of-knowledge article on t’other side..
