I hope I didn’t sound discouraging. I wish you the best of luck with your presentation. If nothing else perhaps you’ll start the gears turning within the Ivory Tower in Houston and perhaps we’ll see something new. It sure would be cool to see a new livery unveiled on the first 757 with winglets. 😀

Not at all. I’m just being realistic. In the Livery business, one is lucky if there is a a response from 1 in 10 presentations sent out elicit a response. Even if it is just “not interested, but will keep it on record”.
Lots of fishing, little catch.
Although, when you do get a client hanging on your hook, the potential is amazing.

for example; I just designed a Livery for a cargo outfit. I’m getting flown down to London spend the day with the first DC-8 to get painted in the new design. (expect pictures here when this happens). They also have an A12 based @ Kahrtoum. I may get to ride jumpseat in the aforementioned DC-8 to Khartoum to see the An12 painted in my design 😀

I like the last one, but sadly it will never see the light of day on the real plane, unless it’s a one-off – with a fleet the size of Continentals…hmm..very nice though Sandy!

stranger things have happened

Indeed.

I don’t expect anything to come from my letter. I’d be surprised if I even got an answer. But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I think the old golden livery had more character than their current c/s

it also symbolised a failing airline

The third design is excellent. Could you do something with the engine cowling? Compared to the rest of the scheme, it looks too dull.

Hey Dude,

RE:your sign off, doesn’t the coach count as god number 12?

Theoretically. 😉 I was going to add “+1” to it, but I didn’t want to mess with the slogan on the team bus. 😎

The blue design is very nice, however, the one with the blue underbelly is also nice from the feasibility aspect. CO could definitely use a facelift.

I too like the current one, but that last one is fantastic. Really does look different and funky.

I definately agree with this. It seems that about every 10-15 years an airline renews its’ livery which would put CAL about ready to make a possible change. Gordon has announced he’s leaving in 2006 so perhaps he won’t be willing to change the livery of the airline he saved (it changed to this about the time he came in). It would kind of be his legacy, the globe on the tail, where the old failing/bankrupt CAL was the meatball.

I think the current tail is superb and simply timeless. Its coming on for 10 years old and still looks fresh. So I think it shouldn’t be touched.

I like the second one the best.

Ah, critique from an employee (if not exactly direct). Employees are always hard to please. LOL

Thank you for your opinion.

🙂

I’m presently piecing together a presentation that will hopefully knock Gordon Bethune’s (CO’s CEO) socks off. Should be able to send it to him by the end of the week if I work non stop.
