Continental to take delivery of additional Boeing aircraft

Souce: Yahoo Biz

With the implementation of the ratified agreements, Continental is confirming delivery of the aircraft under its previously announced Boeing aircraft order. The company will now grow by leasing eight Boeing 757-300 aircraft starting this summer and accelerating delivery of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft into 2006. These aircraft will provide the opportunity for Continental to further expand its international network while supporting its domestic system. The airline also will acquire 10 Boeing 787 aircraft beginning in 2009.

Now it seems to me that the board at CO know exactly what they are doing. Having gotten the cuts in pay (employee and board members) they’ve saved enough to get their deliveries accelerated.

The CO managagement bods have so far proven their worth.

The likes of US and UA have been trying one route, thats cutting their fleet down, cutting their routes and cutting staff. While it might help in the short term, cutting your fleet is not a long term answer.

Modernising your fleet and increasing revenue is the long term answer. Getting more international routes is the key. International is the bread winner. Continental know this 😀

I haven’t done any of our LAX flying yet. Hopefully in the future I’ll make it to the other side of the Rockies. 🙂

I noticed an Emb jet at LAX when I was there last month. Have you been flying into LAX at all WD?

14 new jets in 2 years. For the first time in 6+ years CO is growing. Before all new aircraft only offset the retirement of older types (DC-9, DC-10, 732, MD-80). Of course this growth is coming at the same time where CO will experience their largest pilot retirement spike in their history. They are already having staffing issues and it’s only going to get worse. It’s going to be an interesting 2 years.

Anyone know where the B7573’s are coming from?

ATA.

Boeing is picking up the tab on reconfiguring their interiors to CO standards and spraying them into CO colours!
