Contra-prop Spitfire 19 to Europe?

There is a suggestion on the WIX board that the Planes of Fame (Air Museum) Spitfire PR19 has been sold to a person in France. This is the machine fitted with a contra rotating prop. Could the new owner be Christophe Jacquard? Legends 2005?

Sorry to disappoint you, but I believe the WIX comment you are referring to (which was under the Planes of Fame PR XIX thread) was actually concerning the former David Price Spit.IX. Apparently this aircraft was sold (to where I do not know) to help fund the museum contruction projects at TAM, in Brazil.

Cheers,
Richard

No -its quite specifically the Mk 19 being discussed.

Air Classics also reports the contra spit being sold to a european collector. Planes of Fame are raising funds for their continued expansion. She is heading across the pond.

The PoF website shows the Spitfire substituted by another a/c in its intended Chino display slot on 8/1/05 so maybe….

It would be geat to have a spitfire back in France. I was a bit sad to see Jaquards previous spitfire MK XIV departing to the UK and later to the USA. So if it is true, it’s great news.
