I have what seems to be a Typhoon type spade grip; mag alloy, brass safe/fire ring, electrical black firing button and seems to be AH6005.
Can anyone confirm i/d?
Also, what seems an inter-war period spade grip, single central trigger, black vulcanised rubber covering over aluminium alloy grip (not stainless steel) and numbered AH2235. It has fittings and casting for a brake lever which is missing – identical to, say, the AH2040 casting.
Again, any ideas?
Air Ministry? Rocketeer?

Thank you Xtango….:D
Anyway, changed my mind about the yellow toy Spitfire. It looks too heavy to hang on cotton from the bedroom ceiling and Mrs Tangmere didn’t like the colour.
“We can always change the colour for you sir! we aim to please all our customers”. Part X’s welcome”

Subject to the range of travel being suitable on the central “trigger” it is likely to go on another historic aircraft restoration to fly. It will not be original to type, but won’t be “modified” by the way. Its just that it gets over a specific restoration problem – probably!
If it does not work then I will come right back to you.

Hi Andy,
If you still have this Miles grip, I know of a gentleman with a Miles cockpit who would be very interested in its un-modified form. Do you have any photos please?
cheers, David

As it so happens, the pupil’s control column top turned out to be just what someone we both know wanted to use, with certain mods, in a certain bi-plane currently being re-built. True, not the right stick top for the type…but just what the guy needed! Every cloud etc etc…..!!

Thank you, Bananasplits!
You are quite right. A closer look reveals it is indeed 8005.
Thanks for the i/d on the second one, too!
Cor blimey mate!!!!! good job is was an 8 Andy, or your journey might have been in vain, especially with a pupil’s stick for second place…..
Any old Bedford parts goin’ cheap? Could help you identify a few old chassis numbers…especially if they need ‘tweaking’.

Grip Identification
Hi
Are you sure the first grip is 6005 as 8005 is Typhoon/Tempest V,Albacore and Firebrand? can`t find any reference to an AH6005 number.
The second grip you have (2235)is for the pupil`s seat in a Miles master.
